I generally start my landscapes outside, Plein-air, and
then finish them in the studio from digital photos taken onsite.
This impressionistic style is all about capturing the moment, the
weather, and the feeling of the place. New works will be appearing
here regularly.

"Light in the Storm"
14x11 Oil on Linen BoardThe old St. Francis church in
Ranchos de Taos is usually painted from behind, with the
rounded buttresses. But I thought the white crosses
shining against the coming storm were so lovely and so
symbolic of our quest for spiritual meaning in a troubled
world.

Over Taos" - SOLD

excitement.

14x11, Oil on Linen BoardEarly fall above Taos, overlooking the wide
basin below. The bushes in the foreground are chamisa
with their yellow flowers. The sunset is reflected off
the "virga" in the sky -- rain that drops but doesn't touch
the ground. I still remember the wonderful smell of
autumn in the high country. |
